GOALS & MISSION

The sum of Cirkus Cirkör is divided into three parts; Child and Youth activities, Performance programmes, and the Educational organization. The relationship between them is embryonic and personnel and resources are constantly exchanged.

This principle and practice is applied to all of our projects both within our movement as well as in our co-operation with external partners. A five-year-old who trains in the Circus Hall once a week may do so with an artist who the very next day, leaves to participate in a circus tour of Asia, or may indeed train with our own students, the Circus Pilots, who hail from all four corners of the world.

Cirkus Cirkör truly appreciates the enthusiasm ignited among the public on having seen one of our performances. Unlike traditional circus we actually offer our audiences the opportunity to train and learn with us. We find that the unconventional methods of the contemporary circus expand the boundaries of human possibility. The circus is a forum and tool for enabling all forms of social contact across borders of nationality, organisation, ethnicity, aesthetic, as well as generational boundaries. At the centre of Cirkus Cirkör’s contemporary circus ideal, is the uninhibited engagement of our people, the very heartbeat of what we do and how we do it.

Cirkus Cirkör’s principles state that Cirkus Cirkör should:
– Establish contemporary circus in Sweden, both artistically and educationally.
– Constantly develop and expand contemporary circus’ cultural possibilities.
– Act as a cultural entry gate for the young and those generally excluded from artistic activity.
– Anchor Sweden on contemporary circus’ world map.
– Inspire and be inspired by young people and the street.
– Work for greater democracy, gender equality and commitment.

Cirkus Cirkör’s core values are collective individualism, quality madness and cocky commitment.
