INSIDE OUT

Cirkus Cirkör featuring Irya’s Playground present a circus show about something as simple as life

All posts on Inside out

Part one, 99% Unknown, which premiered in 2004 and toured over the world, took the audience on a journey among cells and neurons inside the human body. With Inside Out we step outside of the body and let the circus artists’ physical abilities to balance on knifes edges and challenge gravity, inspire us to new ways of looking at and meeting the world around us.

Inside out is a circus show celebrating the circus arts, it’s technical skillfulness, magic and way to look upon life. A performance nourished by a circus heart, sparkling of awesome live music and Cirkus Cirkör’s energy, warmth and humor.

In Inside out we will follow three people, each trapped in their own definition of safety and success. One who is terrified of failure, one locked behind logic and a third trying all he can to be hard as a rock. Their worlds are turned up side down and a tremendous journey starts when meeting with a circus company of ugly, monstrous and odd but also magical, funny, warm and elegant characters.

Inside Out is a celebration of circus – its technical skillfulness, enduring magic and outlook up on life. Inspired by the mysteries of the human body and heart a cast of eight multi-skilled performers balance on knife edges and challenge gravity as they tell the story of two very different characters whose worlds are, quite literally, twisted upside down when they come into contact with a circus company of bizarre, magical oddballs.

Cirkus Cirkör has developed a cult following around the world with its spectacular blend of acrobatics and storytelling. Phenomenal physical feats and a pounding live soundtrack from rock band Irya’s Playground combine with projected film footage gives a completely extraordinary, totally eccentric circus show with a whole lot of heart!

Right now Inside out is on its way on international tour.  A run of 58 shows will be performed in a total of eight cities, including Moscow, London and New York and will continue touring throughout 2010.

— You may be good at jumping from heights and exposing yourself to extreme physical dangers, but still be afraid of saying “I love you”. To circus artists, taking risks is an everyday matter. Physically when throwing themselves into the open air, or hanging ten meters above the ground suspended by only by one hand in another person’s hand. Watching someone performing a feat that requires absolute presence of mind is like seeing someone truly being themselves. In these situations you cannot pretend, says Tilde Björfors, director and founder of Cirkus Cirkör

The show consists of 7 multi skilled circus artists and a live rock band featuring Irya Gmeyner (formerly with the band URGA that toured with the Cirkus Cirkör show TRIX among other shows).
